Amber was donated in October of 2012 by Natalie Gaba. She came to the farm with her son, Apache. Amber has a long history of being a rodeo horse and Natalie's family rescued her from a kill pen several years ago.
She has issues with arthritis and hadn't been ridden in several years prior to coming to our farm. We started slow with her working on her ground manners and using gentle natural horsemanship training techniques. She is very easy to handle and she is an excellent horse to teach participants how to groom and other ground work activities.
We spent the summer slowly working her toward light work to see if her legs can handle it. Often with arthritis light work keeps the joints more flexible. She has been able to handle light workouts with the aid of anti- inflammatory and joint medications. With the work we've done she has taken to the exercise very well and is currently used a few times a week with small riders. She's starting to love her job at Stable Life and eats up the attention.
Sadly, Amber passed away in October of 2014.
