Halios' Picture Gallery
Halios had a rough start in life. He was
birthed in a pasture and had little to no
human contact for the first year and a
half of his life. Since he's been at
Stable Life he has come a long way.
He comes right up to us when we enter
the pasture and is more and more
comfortable with people every day. As
you can see, he's become down right
nosey!
There are a few volunteers who took a
special interest in Halios. They spent
a great deal of time talking to him,
singing to him, reading to him, etc. to
get him more used to people. They've
also spent a lot of time touching him,
rubbing him, picking up his feet and
desensitizing him to contact. With all
this attention and in meeting him
today, you'd think that he was
imprinted at birth.
Halios will be started under saddle in
the spring of 2010. We're excited
about being able to ride him as he has
that wonderful floaty trot that Arabs so
commonly possess. He will be an
excellent addition to our EAA program.
In the mean time, Halios is most used
in round pen and ground working
exercises with participants who are
practicing how to free lunge with body
language, decisive movements,
confidence and control.
Very sadly we lost Halios in August of
2010 to a stomach blockage.
